We are extremely excited to have broken ground and have construction underway for the Community Bike Trail! Planning for the trail began last year as a student-led initiative by Mrs. Ritchie’s civics class. Students Evan, Annalee and William led the cause by planning the trail route, getting quotes and fundraising. A lollipop tree fundraiser netted $219 and nearly $1000 was collected in anonymous donations from students/families and community friends. Major donors include AMVETS Post #7 - $3,500, Annalee Sims and grandmother Peggy Biller - $1,500 (from homemade Easter egg sales!) and Shenandoah Valley Organic - Farmer Focus donating a total of $1,500 in community grants on behalf of growers Coby Dean & family, Mark Fansler and Brett Fansler. You may have noticed equipment provided by A & S Excavation in the FRES field steadily moving dirt and installing gravel on the trail this week. Colton Mitchell and Ashby McWilliams have generously donated their equipment, expertise and precious time to complete this community project. Thank you to everyone who helped make this dream a reality!
